CSOV was established on 30 September 1984. Five Slovenian social associations of Victoria are members of the Council. Four clubs are in Melbourne: Melbourne Club, Geelong Club, Jadran Club, and Planica Club. The fifth club is Sneznik in Albury-Wodonga. The presidents of these associations meet regularly for discussion, make decisions, scheduling of events, make arrangements for visiting representatives of Slovenian government and performers. They also cooperate in biennial festivals of Victoria.
