Milan Dekleva

(1946 - ) A poet, essayist, and translator.  He graduated in comparative literature from the University of Ljubljana and works as a journalist for several newspapers and television. He has published ten books of poetry including Limping Sonnets (Šepavi soneti, 1995) and three plays as well as a few children's books and musicals. An accomplished jazz pianist and a former rugby player, Dekleva, an award-winning author, rose to a particular prominence in the nineties. His poems and essays which are formally outstanding deal with the modern human condition in the absence of God.
