Course planning:
Topics 4 - 10

The chart of CSF topics demonstrates the essentials of CSF approach to language learning - a holistic and integrated approach to language curriculum, where students learn a full range of communication skills through activities and tasks - as a systematic progression through levels of learning. Themes, activities and tasks are integrated with a variety of text-types and linguistic elements (grammar). Used together with the chart of text-types and language functions, the CSF topic chart is an aid and a guide to teachers of Slovenian language in course planning.

The CSF topics are sequenced as a progression through primary to secondary level, as appropriate to each age level. Text-types, linguistic elements and language functions are integrated with this thematic approach and are presented gradually, increasing in range and complexity through levels 4 -6 (upper primary), 7 - 8 (early secondary), 9 - 10 (middle secondary). Topics, activities, vocabulary, text-types and functions are selected with a view to their suitability to the age group and the context of students' social experience and environment.
